Last night’s Sip & Savour Ontario wine event at the Steam Whistle Brewery was a resounding success. On Spotlight Mike and I will have our picks from the broad selection of excellent wine in a story on Spotlight Toronto. I also covered the media preview for the event over on Spotlight.
As I mentioned in that post the event was conceived as as an opportunity to introduce wine consumers to award-winning bottles and demonstrate how well they pair with food. With this in mind the core of each winery’s offering at the event were medal winners from the 2011 Ontario Wine Awards.

The El Gastro truck parked between The Roundhouse and the CN Tower.
The excellent food options–particularly Globe’s rabbit rillettes and the Old Mill’s beef cheeks–were back-stopped by two of Toronto’s most popular food trucks. Both El Gastro (sorry guys, it’s best that I just shorten your name rather than trying to spell it, accent and all, fully; yes, I’m lazy sometimes) and Cupcake Diner were parked inside but brought there wares in from the rain.

Posters for House Link Toronto.
Funds raised from the event and its silent auction go to support House Link Toronto. House Link helps find housing and provides community support for past and present psychiatric patients.
