Oktoberfest at Bier Markt

Oktoberfest at Bier Markt

For whatever reason — probably having a lot to do with where German-Canadians settled — Ontario’s Oktoberfest celebrations tend to be held quite a trek from Toronto. There’s the long-standing one in the K-W that everyone knows about and a newer one in Van Kleek Hill put on by Beau’s that everyone should know about.

In town, Bier Markt is celebrating that most Bavarian of festivals with a special beer and food menu.

Their “Bier Expert” Nathan Cameron has pulled together a list of seasonally-appropriate German beers from the relatively mainstream Erdinger Weissbier to the more niche Hasseroder Pilsner Lager.

Not to be out-done, Chef Michael Cipollo has come up with some special options on the food side as well. These include Festhalle Roast Chicken, Beef Rouladen, and a special Sunday-nigh-only Bavarian-style pig roast. For $25 per person guests get their carved-to-order portion of a whole roasted suckling pig with the trimmings and beer pairings.

The special promotion has been running since September 18 and will last until October 20.

I haven’t had the opportunity to try the special menus, but I’m happy to offer you, gentle reader, the chance to stand-in as tasting guinea pig. Follow the directions in the nifty contest widget below for your chance to win a $50 gift certificate that can be redeemed at any of the three Toronto Bier Markt locations. The Oktoberfest promotion runs until October 20, but as far as I can tell there is no expiry on the gift card.

Went to Bier Markt for my birthday dinner this year and LOVED it. The food was incredible, not just for what some people may say ‘….oh…you mean a bar?’…but in general, great food and solid, knowledgeable staff.
